We are free.

And I look around,
and I see the sound.
Everybody's waiting
for the day to begin.
Another step forward
along with the earth's spin.
Inside a moment.
Inside a mogul.
Inside a mountain,
I found a diamond.
Youre like gold.
Your shadow -
a white one.
Sparks the spirit
lighten
behind the sun.
Born of a divine concept.
Just look at what's left.
And right.
Outa sight.
Back in again.
Win!
My friend.
Your love
brings the day.
What can I say?
In colours you change.
Like reflections so strange.
Fragments of fractals dance like sugar plums in my head.
And you stand there planted. Your feet planted.
Like always it started...

Sleep now, and forever hold your peace.
Goddess is zen. Since forever we told you youre free.
Sleep now and forever hold your piece.
Goddess is in. Since forever we told you youre free.

When I pass go, I will collect.
All of the other mothers resurrect.
If youre chancin, then youre enhancing.
The numero uno - one who is dancin.
Not Danzig, but...
I like him too.
This is the find of the century- boom!
You know the story beebs.
You caught the episode so soon.
Just remember, when youre home alone make a tune.
And the manner of the matter will abide by the way.
And if you cant hold it all together, then just listen to what I have to say.
Part of the ever moving moon move us under = is the sequel of the kaleidoscopic wonder- as to why.... but one day it all comes as it clears. Tell the story. It's all that you have to hear. It's all that you give. And everything you get. Tell the story - so it will all fit.

Sleep now and forever hold your piece.
Goddess is zen. Since forever we told you youre free.
Sleep now. And forever hold your peace. Goddess. Goddess. Goddess is in. Since forever we told you youre free.

La Conchita Update

Nearly two years after the deadly La Conchita Mudslide, a serious danger remains, threatening not only this precious coastal community, but also effecting future commerce of the State of California.

Historically, the first slide above the community of La Conchita occurred in March 1995, destroying several homes. At that time research was conducted, and plans for stabilizing the hill were drawn up. These plans were not acted upon. Agricultural and watershed issues are contributors to the saturation and reactivation of this ancient landslide.

Community efforts toward public awareness of the situation in La Conchita resulted this last March 2006 in the funding of the La Conchita Study, commissioned by Governor Schwarzenegger, and headed by the California State Office of Emergency Services. The declared intent of the study is to examine the geological, technical, financial, environmental, and social factors necessary in developing a solution to the situation in La Conchita.

Recently La Conchita Community Organization (LCCO) Chairman Mike Bell informed the community in a letter that the State committee for the La Conchita Study has met on several occasions. He says the group has decided to write a Request for Qualification (RFQ), a project advertisement directed toward contractors to be posted on the State website. "This is the first step in the process of getting geologists on the hill, doing the investigative work, to determine how to stabilize the hill and the costs associated with the stabilization," wrote Bell. The report for this study is due to be completed by next Fall 2007.

Preserve Wildlife: Live One

Smokey Point, Washington
Rodleen Getsic

This week has been a wild one.

Prior Post to the Script: Dont get mad at me if I havent called you. Friends and former neighbors, please feel free to get in touch with me. I am truly whelmed with all of this that is ockering now. So, praytell. My email is getsic@yahoo.com and you may have my cell. So be in touch if you want to see me / talk to me. Let's see what is possible. I am in demand energetically right now. And it is my own fault line; a beautiful one at that.

So... Because of the snow I was stranded in Darrington (which was not so bad at all) with my dear friends---> Shannon White and her kids, Ivy White (10) and Dylan Landry (14)... We watched so many movies... We lounged and slept and played and talked. It was really nice, actually. Shannon introduced me to the welcoming addiction of the Moon Valley Lotion Bar. http://www.moonvalleyhoney.com/ We kept rubbing it on our bodies while watching movies. I know it sounds strange, but if you get one, you will understand. It is really rad.

When I finally was able to get my truck back on the road and partially thawed out, I came to my family's house- The Giecek's - as you may know, a Polish last name pronounced “get-sic” - (Mawz, Pawz, my brother Rudy, and his wife Rhonda, and her brother Adam Veach...), where the power was out and it was freezing cold. They hadnt had power all week! This was yesterday- so Sunday through Thursday, NO POWER in icy cold freezing, snowy weather...! I withstood in my goose down and wool blankets (and a borrowed goose down coat from Dylan, THANKYOU!)... And, a talk with Chris Durfee who is in Los Angeles warmed up my senses in yesterday's chill.

After going to Starbucks yesterday morning, my truck all of a sudden went dead in the middle of the road. The Smokey Point neighborhood power was still out. Snow. Slush. Freeze. Tears. Blur. Ah! Power. I NEED POWER! “Power, Lord. Give me power, Lord!” Sister Gertrude Morgan sings. www.PreservationHall.com

Finally today I got my Jimmytruck onto the back bed of a large tow truck (because the keys are stuck in the ignition... the power is completely gone), and to a shop. This was just hours ago. The lady at the shop said she would call me in an hour or so. She hadnt called by 5PM, so I called her. The shop was closed. They open on Monday. I am stranded. In a mystery; not a misery. Definitely MYSTERIOUSNESS is going on here. For more reasons than afore mentioned.

I plan to head back to California at some point. Soon, actually. That is the plan.

Barlow is coming out for a Vanguard conference in Seattle. My girlfriend (Best Friend) Kirsha Kaechele is flying in from New Orleans, as well. Kirsha and I are destined to drive South together, maybe catching an EFF Board Meeting in SF on the way to Los Angeles.

Tho, IN DEED: everything is subject to ALTER.

AS I always say,
"We will see what time will bring."

Hey. By the way, my family is doing great up here. We all went to Amigo in Stanwood last night (Rudy, Pop, Mom, and I) and we ate Mexican food and drank Margaritas. Rudy works at Amigos every Saturday night, bouncing. Right now my parents are watching Star Trek, and I am sort of listening to it.

Somebody buy my pop's gorgeous piece of art:

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&include=0&since=1&rdir=0&rows=50&userid=giecek

It is practically a steal. I would buy it if I had a house to put it in.

I had a lot more to say, but now it is fleeting out of my head. I will continue those thoughts some other time. I will speak on Timothy Treadwell at some point. Wait. Maybe now is the time.

Reel Quick Like: The film entitled Grizzly Man by Werner Herzog is disturbing to an extreme, and obviously put together in a manner for shock value to the viewer. I am sure Mr. Treadwell is turning over in his grave at this horrifically negative exposure of his work on Earth. One can see the light of his genious, although the focus is elsewhere in this insensitive flick.

After almost two hundred hours of footage on the special lives of these grizzlies and other wild life; how it affected him as an explorer and a caring person; what message he was bringing to the world and our children; what he was protecting... All of these crucial points to consider, only to be exploited in a sad attempt to make a dramatic scene surrounding his death.

As you can tell, I am greatly moved my Timothy Treadwell, and one day I will like to see his film made. I do not take "Grizzly Man" with any salt. Salt is too lucky of an omen for Director Herzog’s stab at this body.

This is one of my goals: to get in touch with the person who has access to all of Treadwell’s precious work, and to put it together in a respectful way that he would be proud of. Ivy White agreed to join me in this mission. We have already brainstormed several ideas for this prospective project.

That is all for now. I send my love out to the world.

Love,
Rodleen

"The Common Denominator."

Rodleen Getsic
One of my greatest jokes to myself lately is that "none of my relationships [romantic] have ever worked out."

I just spoke with John Perry Barlow. He says that I attract painful ones.

This year Barlow has asked my hand in marriage. He said he has only asked two women in his life to marry him. His ex-wife (of the three Barlowettes) and myself. What a complete honor. Barlow, I love you.

Last night my Brother Rudy said:
"Rodleen, youre looking for something you like
instead of something youd like to love."

Rudy also said:
"I am a waxing intellectual."

And, he was talking about me in 3rd person. He said:

"She's not the catalyst. She's the rest of us.
The Common Denominator."

Rudy was on a rampage last night with the words. He said a lot of things. I wrote down everything.

Tonight Dan Johnson (Olympia, Washington) reminded me in a conversation about our relationship some odd decade of years ago... That we came together because we are healers.

Really, my relationships with people do work out. The relationships last forever in an evolving manner. I cherish my friends.

I just wonder.

That is all.

It is the end of Thanksgiving Dinner for this year now.

The man I am in love with currently has nothing to say to me.

I go forth in my spiritual journey.

Love.

OK. Pause. The man that I love just called. This could work...?

Mettle Versus Meddle

"The United States is stuck between Iraq and a hard place."
-Rodleen in her unreleased 2004 record album entitled Piece 2.

Rodleen Getsic

Thanksgive it up.

What a calm, wonderfulday?

Washington rain.

Family.

We watched the New York "parade" today on the tv set.

POP: What's this world coming to?!!

RODLEEN: What's this world coming to?!! It's coming to a day and age where parades stand still.

I was actually impressed with all of the songs that got sung (or, rather, lip-sunkt) during the programming. It was really great to hear all of the people singing. I love disney-esque music. The opera singer rocked, too, although she was the worst actress of them all. Her dress was gorgeous, tho. All dressed in white.

I do not usually watch television.

We also heard about the war and the deaths and lebanon and Iran.

What a mess for the U.S.!

My big question of the last decade and a half -

Why doesnt America focus on our own country's inner strength and longevity?

Why? Because, this nation's leadership is more concerned with "maintaining our world power status," as the Secretary of State to President George H. W. Bush informed me during a crossfire in Washington, D.C. in July 1992.

This still makes absolutely no sense to me: the fact that this country puts the major focus outwardly rather than inwardly. In numbers and through unification, we will withstand.

La Conchita Mudslide - US Disaster

WHAT IS CALIFORNIA
WAITING FOR?
REBUILD LA CONCHITA -
SAVE THE RINCON CORRIDOR

by Rodleen Getsic

Rodleen is the former spokesperson and public relations for the community of La Conchita, California. This article was published in Fall 2005 in several local newspapers.

LA CONCHITA, CA.-- You remember. It wasn't too long ago. Less than a year ago was that day the deadly mudslide hit La Conchita, California. The mud came down hard and fast. The interstate and railroad were flooded and blockaded, bringing major commerce to a halt. Homes were destroyed and people were killed in La Conchita. Three percent (3%) of the community died, including some small children.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger walked along the streets of La Conchita. He called out heroically, "We will rebuild!" He said he would help make the community safe again. In his own career campaign, he has claimed, “I'm here as your warrior, remember that. I want to protect you." Though, he has left La Conchita a gaping wound right here in California’s front yard.

Nothing has been done to aide in the rebuilding of La Conchita since the bodies were pulled out of the mud and rubble. Crushed houses still sit rotting at the base of the mudslide. Roads are muddy, unkempt, and in some cases completely blocked by hills of fallen mud. “Road Closed” and other warning signs block some of the intersections. More than 6,000 gallons of water pours onto the streets of La Conchita daily, riveting sloppily down the middle of the roads in small streams. This water is high in toxicity and seeps down from irrigation sourcing from the avocado ranch on top of the hill.

Recently, there have been outlandish theories of doom printed up about California falling into the ocean. Some folks think that everyone in La Conchita should just move. Did you know that generations of families reside in this little town? This area was established in the 1800’s as Punta Gorda. Some people still living today in La Conchita once played in the Punta School House even before La Conchita del Mar was established in 1924. This community is unique, and it is a core part of California history. It is filled with people that love their neighbors. It is filled with tax paying citizens. La Conchita de serves to be saved and safe.

Until the hill above La Conchita is stabilized, The State of California is in danger. When the mud slides, it covers the federal interstate and the federal railroad, and it causes a halt in commerce. It also kills and destroys. In America, when a National Disaster is declared, the government is mandated to administer safety and disaster relief to its citizens. The government is required to make sure that the region where the disaster occurred is safely reconstructed.

“Four years after the frightening experience of September the Eleventh, Americans have every right to expect a more effective response at a time of emergency,” says Bush. There has been no response in La Conchita since it was declared a National Disaster in January of this year. The rebuilding of Laguna Beach, South of Los Angeles, is already well on its way toward completion after the landslide they experienced around the same time this year. It is shocking that nothing has been done to rectify the situation in La Conchita, California.

In order to save lives, preserve this community, and to protect the coastal corridor of Highway 101, The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) should be called in for Environmental Protection and Disaster Response. Recently, Patricia Sigur of USACE in D.C. told La Conchita that she is concerned nothing has been done. She sees the need for assistance, and stated, “Though we cannot lobby for work, we stand ready.” Taking the same stance as other State and Federal Officials, she says that the local government, in this case, the county of Ventura, is required to request assistance from the higher levels of government in order to fulfill administration of Disaster Relief.

Ventura County has not asked for any help. At the South Coast Sub-Regional Planning Committee Meeting on October 26, 2005, Supervisor Steve Bennett stated that he would like The State and The Federal Government to take on the liability of fixing the hill above La Conchita, “But…” shaking his head, he continued, “I think that’s highly unlikely.” Nearly a year after the tragic incident, Ventura County has still not asked for any help to rebuild and protect La Conchita.

Why not terrace the hill now, before it falls again? Steve Bennett expresses such concern about “costing Ventura taxpayers.” This year, when the highway was shut down for ten days at La Conchita, it cost our state $10 million a day, resulting in a loss of approximately $100 million. The railroad was shut down for 3 weeks, resulting in a loss of $33 million. According to plans drawn up by private engineers, terracing the hill will cost an estimated $20 to $40 million.

How is not terracing the hill saving tax dollars? It will certainly save dollars. It will certainly save lives. It will certainly save time. Each workday, 15,000 commuters drive past La Conchita (SBCAG). This very corridor of the 101 where Santa Barbara County and Ventura County meets is deemed a Geological Hazard Zone, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Until this area is reconstructed, The State of California is in danger.

New Orleans Commentary - US Disasters

From: Rodleen Getsic getsic@yahoo.com
Subject: New Orleans: One Year Later
Date: 11:39am 8/29/06

New Orleans, Louisiana
Tuesday, August 29, 2006

I am here in New Orleans. A second line jazz procession is just now beginning in the Lower Ninth Ward. The "3 Presidents" are here: Bush, Bush, and Clinton. Wynton Marsalis has arrived in high performance with a serious positive force. The Preservation Hall musicians have returned to play. Choirs and players in churches and bars and courtyards and living rooms are making music. People are praying and playing and working and marching and rebuilding their homes here in New Orleans.

We have a lot of intense emotions gathering together here today as we remember the thousands of lives that were lost one year ago. The seriousness of the tragedy called Katrina is echoed throughout the city. As a National Disaster, New Orleans is directly reminiscent of last year's La Conchita Mudslide (California, January 2005), and Hurricane Rita (Gulf Coast, September 2005) - in that, people died, homes were ruined, and danger remains in a critical way. It is now crucial for our national government to focus on disaster response and strategic disaster planning.

Be inspired by the people continuing to do what they do as best they can in light of the tragedies that hit. Come on America. Do what ever you can. Let's clean it all up. Let's rebuild. Let's make our nation strong again.

"You don't know the chorus of this song?
You must be busy." - Wynton Marsalis

with my mother who is an angel.
I am taking her home, back to my pop.

Ive come up from in and out of the highest hills of Malibu, Topanga, West Hollywood... Swallow'd up some divine partying and gorgeous energy with Barlow and frienz. Took part in filming extravaganzas within an execution of knowledge (at USC) by the two Johns of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Made some songs. Performed an amazing photoshoot at Forest Lawn with Carter behind the camera's eye. Attended a dark night of 80s flashback feelings with jack and coke at the Rainbow. Fell in love with a man.

New News Still

Got a text message from Deftone's management- Knife Party is not on the Hollywood set for tonight at the Avalon. Dam.
I am sure the show will rock any way. Tho this means I will miss it...

Cheers.

New News

Here in Hollywood Hills above Doheny. [Stricker&Durfee.]

Last night was Deftones show at the Avalon. I attended with my friend Steve Stevens, head of security for Maverick Records, and a whole crew of Warner Bros. people. I wasnt sure what to expect, but I forsure wanted to see The Deftones; and sing. People had been telling me that Knife Party was on the set. It was sort of a funny run around first with Warner people really wanting to meet-and-greet with the band. I was lost in the shuffle of waiting, but of course, it was worth the wait. After a while I ran into Stef and he said, "Youre singing tonight, right?"

The Deftones rocked it so hard. It had been years since I laid my eyes on them, but they continue to rock steady. Chi. Abe. Frank. Stef. Chino. I met Frank's parents. His dad brought rum from Jamaica that tasted divine.

Chino wasnt sure if I would sing again tonight. He put me in touch with a manager. We will see what time will bring.

All Love.
